RAISE THE ROOF: Featuring Patrick Bowen, Soloist

The Desert Winds can't wait to "jam" with one of Las Vegas' most inspiring percussionist, the great Patrick Bowen of The Las Vegas Philharmonic, as he performs Michael Daugherty's iconic "RAISE THE ROOF" with John Seaton conducting. Daugherty writes "The music is a cascade of major and minor triads, like laying down bricks and stones to build up a ‘wall of sound.’ Raise the Roof rises toward a crescendo of polyrhythms and dynamic contrasts, allowing the orchestra to construct a grand new space for performing music of the past, present, and future." The program will include James Barnes' "Tragic" Symphony #3 with Dr. Charles A. Maguire presenting a fresh and nuanced interpretation of this extensive and thought provoking 20th century work for wind ensemble.
