Advent-Christmas Members Recital: December 6, 2009

 
 

Rodney Gisick is a new resident of Las Vegas, after two years out of the country. He is an organist and voice teacher, and he loves to give vocal workshops for church choirs. He is looking for church work and students! He also is a landscape designer and writer/blogger.

Bede Parry is Music Director and Assisting Priest at All Saints' Episcopal Church, Las Vegas, and past-Dean of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the AGO.

Paul S. Hesselink is retired from the Music Faculty of Longwood University in Virginia after 26 years of teaching, and from Nevada School of the Arts after serving as its Dean for 12 years. He is currently on the UNLV adjunct music faculty in organ instruction.

Cherrill Hoeft is a Pre-K Early Childhood Special Education Specialist at Snyder Elementary School in Las Vegas. She enjoys serving as one of the organists in her LDS Ward in Henderson.

Yvonne Mendenhall works in private land development and is the seventh generation of flutists in her family.

Jane Dye is completing a Master of Music degree in organ performance at Brigham Young University and serves as the organist for the Pennwood LDS Chapel in Las Vegas.

Shireen Beaudry-Jonnson is a retired music specialist of 30 years in the schools with a M.M. from UNLV and recently earned AGO's Colleague degree. She is organist at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, and directs a children's choir at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church. .

Jan Bigler has been ·playing the organ since her days at BYU and has performed in Las Vegas, California ·and Salt Lake City. She is currently playing regular recitals at the Tabernacle in St. George, Utah.

Kym S. Cushing, a local attorney, studied organ at Brigham Young University and also with Kim Croft in Los Angeles. He is currently the Organist for the LDS Green Valley Stake.

Dorothy Young Riess, M.D. was the 1952 winner of the American Guild of Organist's Playing Competition. She retired in 2000 from her 30-year medical career in Pasadena as an internist, and moved to Las Vegas where she has returned to playing the organ.
