My name is Julie Valenzuela.  I am very excited to be a part of the SNCAGO this year. Thank you so much for this honor of serving on your board.

 I have been the church organist for Mountain View Lutheran Church for the past 5 years.  I came upon this position completely by accident, as I previously was just an occasional substitute, simply providing piano accompaniment on hymns.  Suddenly, our church organist was gone, and it was up to me to provide our congregation with the church music they were used to, and more.

 I grew up in Tucson, Arizona.  My piano teacher was the church music director, so I learned my church musicianship from her, as I was often asked to accompany the choir, play duets with the church organist, and provide occasional preludes and interludes on harpsichord and piano.

 I have been living in Las Vegas the last 32 years with my husband.  My children are now grown and both reside in Reno.  My son is attending UNR, and my daughter is a media consultant.   I am currently also a full time 7th grade math teacher for Doral Charter School. Prior to last year, I taught in CCSD for 31 years, ranging from 3rd grade up to 8th grade.  

 I look forward to working and learning with all of you!
