Thomas Schuster is currently in the organ studio of Robert Bates as a master's student at the University of Houston. He received his Bachelor of Music degree. Summa cum Laude. from Wayne State University (Detroit) with a double major­ studing piano with Pauline Martin and organ with the late Ray Ferguson. Mr. Schuster has attended music academies in Israel and Europe. and has participated in master classes with Simon Preston, David Palmer. Jean­-Bernard Pommier, David Craighead. and Vadim Monastirsky.

A winner of numerous piano and organ prizes, most recently Thomas placed first in the 2001 Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival/USA, the 2001 AGO/Quimby Region V Young Organists Competition, and the 2002 Wells National Organ Competition in Lubbock. TX (2nd place). He has played at venues throughout the United States, including recitals at the 2001 Region V Convention in Fort Wayne, Indiana and at the 2002 National AGO Convention in Philadelphia where he was featured in the "rising star'' concert series.

Mr. Schuster has performed much of the standard repertoire for organ and orchestra and has released a compact disc of organ concertos by Anton Heiller, Walter Braunfels. and Max Baumann… the latter two are world premiere recordings. He is presently director of music and organist at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Houston. Thomas and his wife, Erica, are expecting their first child in January.
